Parnelli (and AJ and Gurney and Clark and many others) raced all kinds of different races. For that matter, when I was racing bikes the AMA Championship involved 5 kinds of racing; TT, Short Track, Road Racing, Mile, and Half Mile. Don't get me wrong, Tony Stewart is one of my favorite drivers, and he will race anything anywhere (plus I love how brutally honest he is with his opinions). That is, up until earlier this year when his NASCAR sponsor stopped him from driving a Toyota in another race. That is one of my other pet peeves, I think the sponsor should own you during the race, but in your off hours, you should be able to crawl into what ever vehicle you like if the manufacturer does not have vehicles racing in that class.
