So... Let me get this straight. One of the reasons the Taliban was bad was because of how the abused women, right? And Saudi Arabia, which has many cases of female foriegn workers being raped and then the victims being jailed for illegal pregnancies stemming from the rapes, are the good guys?

My head hurts just trying to grasp foriegn policy rationalisations. I suppose it all follows Teddy Roosevelt's statement about a despot we supported, "He might be a bastard, but he's our bastard."

we don't give a shit about them, because half the people in this country are so anti-israel it borders on anti-semitism.

It's like saddaam. He was a douchebag in the 80's, and he's a douchebag now. It's just that way back when, we were trying to get rid of the greater of two evils. Amazing how evil is relative...

"half the people in this country are so anti-israel it borders on anti-semitism."

I disagree strongly with this statement. This is close to when the American Jewish Council said that disagreeing with the Israeli government is anti-semetic.

I think that the average American can tell the differences between culture/religion, race, and government.

I do not see people picketting synagoges over issues with Palistine. But I do here people say they feel what the Israeli government is doing is very heavy handed and that the morally disagree with their tactics.

To claim people are anti-semetic for disliking Sharon's policies is like our right wing claimming people are unamerican for disagreeing with Bush. It is a gross and harmful misstatement.
