Naked swimmer reaches Ross Island
Rescue workers from the Portland Police Bureau, the Portland Fire Department, and the Multnomah County sheriffs's Office River Patrol, responded to the report of a naked man swimming in the Willamette River towards Ross Island Wednesday morning.
The call was dispatched about 10:30 a.m. According to reports, the man was an adequate swimmer, and he made it all the way to the Island.
Portland Police spokesman Sgt. Brian Schmuatz said it's unlikely the man would face charges. Under Oregon law, it's not illegal to be naked in public unless you have the intent to be sexually aroused. When someone calls 911, rescue personal must respond, said Schmautz.
If you are hot, you can be naked, he said.
Woo hoo!!!
