I know I mentioned that when I was last in Peru that I dined on Guinea Pig and it is a common local food. Now comes the proof...

In fact it is so common that there is a rendition of The Last Supper in Cuzco with Jesus and the Apostles dining on the rodent.

And when I was in Peru, I witnessed how people grow them. The door was normally slightly raise so the animals can't get out, and people would get let them run all over their one room houses, with a bunch of straw for them in a corner. Say "hello" to dinner:
