We, Oregon, have about a thousand people coming to Portland who have no place to stay while New Orleans is drained and rebuilt. They are saying about 9 months to drain New Orleans, assuming no more hurricanes (we are stil early/mid hurricane season). That means 6-9 months, at minimum, of there people living communally in an old shutdown school. I suspect these people will be very bored and lonely and depressed. It would be great if this community that is offering so much support could also offer these people short term work. Something to help make these people part of our community. So they can enteract proffesionally, and also earn money to occasionally go out to dinner or a movie and inneract with the community socially.
