I can't help but wonder how much of the bigotry North Africans have sufferred and the resulting riots going on now have their roots in thebattle of Algiers. As I remember it... From 1830 to 1962 France ruled Algiers, the Algiers finally won independence. But prior to that the war was nasty. It involved the Algierians using many modern terrorist tactics, like killing civilian with bombs on the street, and the ethnic French would practice ethnic cleansing, rounding up many innocent north africans and torturing and killing them.
I can't help but wonder if this is old feuds flaring up again, and not really a new thing, like the media seems to be hyping.
