Wow!!! I want! This guy has taken a 2-d camera and put layers of micro lenses over the digiral sensor. The microlenses also measure measure the light. The end result is the camera records a 3-d image that you can adgust the depth of field in post processing. But, if you could use edge detection algorithms on it as you pan through the depths, you could use it to make digital 3-d models for ray-tracing or stereo imaging.
One other digital camera dream I have... I wish digital cameras would also have IR and UV sensors in addition to the RGB ones. Then you could have a raw image format with the extended light range record and adjust which ranges are visable in the final image. You could have the flexability to tune the colors with out static reliance on filters with set values.
