Emily and I went out last night to see this blue grass band, The Del McCoury Band, at The Tractor Tavern in Ballard. It was excellent. It reaffirmed my respect for musicians in general and violinists/fiddlers and up-right bassists. Pretty much every other instrument in the world has notes clearly defined. Pianos have their keys, flutes have their holes, guitars and banjos have frets, but violins and basses don't have those things, you just need to know where the note is. No reminders. No second chances. The only instruments I can think of that are more vague, forcing the musian to have more extreme knowledge and talent, is the theramin.
Anyway, like I said, the show was awesome and the band is playing again tonight. If you like blue grass, the show is definately worth checking out.
In other news, I got three hours of the sleep last night and I'm struggling to stay awake.
