Andrew sent me these:
I would like to do photography like that. But how? As you don't see wood or embers, I'm guessing a gas jet was used. You also don't see a background, that might be because the flames are bright enough, and it was shot in a dark enviroment. But I think, as the flams look constrained, a sooted out (so it doesn't reflect) tube was or could be used. Plus some pyrex glass or something to protect the camera. But you would need to take the picture quickly, before the glass got sooty.

Andrew tells me it was done digitally. That's cheating, damn it! I think it'll be more fun playing with fire and burning my eye brows off. ;)
