Good news and bad news...

Bad news: My friend, and ex-cowork, Dave London had the most wonderful and caring partner in the world, Steve. Steve passed away yesterday. He had cancer. And today is Dave's birthday. :-(

Good news: We have a new "puppy"! :-) My Mom wanted a dog she could run with. So, yesterday, she went and got Daisey. Daisey is one year old, half lab half huskey. Basicly looking like a yellow lab, but with longer hair. She's still pretty skittish, but she should settle down soon. I need to find some web hosting soon, so I can share pictures of this cutie. This means I have a hiking partner! :-)

Here is the puppy.

Some back story:

Apparently Daisey was abandonned and was running with a wild pack. The dogs were holed up in an abandonned house, when they had a run in with a porcupine. Daisey had hundreds of quils all down her front, and the dog assumed to be her mother (the husky) had one eye gouged out with a quil. The Shelter took the 4 dogs in the worst shape to the vet. At that time (this was in April) the vet guessed Daisey's age to be 1 year. Daisey is uncomfortable around men, and terrified of teenage boys.

And, I'm thinking she is not house trained yet, as I left the door open so she could come in and out, and she came in to poop and piss in the dining room. And she has no clue about fetching.

Next stop, obedience school.

One other thing. Daisey and Jamie (our other dog) love company and we have a HUGE backyard. Bring your dog over, and have a beer/soda while the dogs socialize. :-)

WTF?!?!?! Beat your wife, and you get a year in prison. But spit on a police officer and you get life?!?!? I think those punishments should be reversed.

4th O' July trip has been nix'ed. We were going to go to the Oregon Caves, but with the new puppy, and my Mom feeling really run down (she suspects an infection as her lymph nodes are swollen), we have decided to chill here at the house. I was looking forward to the caves, but I'm glad I don't have to put up with the car ride.
