Too soon to get a new dog?

I miss having the the site of two dogs playing. And, frankly, this is really freaking Daisy out. She has never been without other dogs. She ran with a pack as a pup. then with Jamie here.

If I get a dog, what breed? I would like a large (90lbs+), active (but laid back personality), short haired dog. Non-oily hair would also be good. Semoyed's have the personality and activeness I would like, the down side is they have long hair and are in the 45-50lbs range. I do not want a guard dog. Something from the hunting or working groups (other than guard dogs) would be good. Any ideas? And yes, I plan to get the dog from the pound or some rescue organization, not a breeder. Mutts are acceptable, as long as I know the source breeds, so I have some idea of what I'm getting.

In automotive news...

Audi's new endurence race car, the R10 (replacing the awesome R8), will run off a diesel power plant. It's not often you hear of people racing with diesel engines. They are more powerful, reliable, and fuel effcient, but they also tend to weigh a lot more. The R8's have dominated the Le Mans series for a few years, it will be interesting to see how this change affects their standings and how competitors respond.

In other car news, check out the "Glass Factory". The Glass Factory is the automotive plant that VW makes their Phaton at. While I'm not a fan of the Phaton (why pay $80k for a car that looks just a like a Jetta?), this factory is pretty impressive. It looks cleaner than most hospitals.

I can't bring myself to say, 'Well, I guess I'll be toddling along.' It isn't that I can't toddle. It's just that I can't guess I'll toddle.

Let me draw the rest of you into a debate between my sister and I.

My sister dislikes violent games, but in particular WWII re-enactment games like Metal of Honor or Call to Duty. She feels the games are very disrespectful, making light of the risks and losses of those that took part and profiting from them.

I, on the other hand think the games are fun and graphically demostrate the dangers involved (how far can you go in any given FPS war simulator with out dying?). And yes there are profits made, but is it any different from live re-enactments done for the amusement of an audience? Or for that matter, war movies?

Discuss!!!

Burning Man Tickets go on sale next month! Be ready! Remember, the sooner you buy them, the cheaper they are!!!

http://tickets.burningman.com/

If you can get in on the cheap tickets, it's $185. That's $185 for 9 days and nights of fun, fun, FUN! That's about $20/day. Or $0.86/hour. Or about one and a half cents a minute. It's not that expensive. Far cheaper than an concert you have paid to attend.

Anyway, anyone camping with me, get the tickets as soon as you can!
