Ceci n'est pas une personne.

If the internet is to be believed, yesterday was a shameful anniversary. 251 years ago, yesterday, the Dodo Bird went extinct.

As Jamie is gone, and there are no more cat killers in the house, we're looking to get a cat. To go with Daisy's large size, we would like to get large cat. Right now we're thinking Maine Coon, but if they come bigger than that (and are not of exotic lineage) I would love to hear about it.

We were also discussing a new (rescue, not a puppy) dog. Still hashing out the details, but we're thinking some time this spring or summer.

Damn, we're quickly returning to our "Zoo" of the 80's and early 90's when we had 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 rabbits, a koi pond, an aquarium, a chinchila, and a couple love bird and parachetes. Actually, I doubt we will have an aquarium, bird, or chinchila again. But Some large American Checker rabbits or English lops are possible.

And that is still nothiing compared to before my sister was born and we had a small chicken farm with a variety of livestock.

Speaking of chickens, the avian bird flu has reached Turkey. And predictions on when it reaches the U.S., and via what route? I'm thinking a far flying albatros or boobie will get it near the Asian coast line and carry it to South America, and then it will proceed north.

I saw on digg this cool document on embedding oogle maps into a web page:

http://blog.explorationage.com/articles/2006/01/08/how-to-add-a-google-map-to-any-web-page-in-less-than-10-minutes

I've submitted a suggestion to Live Journal to have an lj tag for doing this they would look very much like the IMG tag in HTML. Like:

<lj-map align=left/right/center valign=top/bottom/center alt="Any Town, USA" width=x height=y zoom=% loc="Some address, coordinates, or location">

And once they have that, they should be able to buld on it by doing To/From maps and maybe even a way to put in a series of map points of your own, so you can show race paths or where you went hiking.

Also the aqbility to tag LJ Scarpbook images and LJ posts with locations and have them show up as points on a map, like with Flickr. Or quickly do a map showing where all your friends are (and color coded to show if they are online or how long since their last post would also be cool).

Anyway, I think it would be a cool idea.
