As I venture into metaphysics....

My mind is brimming with a mix of "What The Bleep Do We Know", writings by the McKenna's, Jung, and Art Kelp.

The McKenna's predict that evolution will accelerate and until December 22, 2012, at which point evolution will stop. This date is also the end of the world in the Mayan Calendar (in some translations. newer interpretations just state that a significant event will occur on that date) and roughly coincides with various Christian rapture/end-of-the-world theories.

While I do not believe the end of the world is coming, it does make me wonder why that general time period is common to very differing cultures for the end of days.

This commonality brings in thoughts of Jungian concepts of syncronicity, which ties into the quantum theory ideas of particle entanglement and the possibility of group conscienceness.

While I don't believe in group conscienceness either, it has supposedly been demonstrated with the NYT Crossword, where a huge number of people struggle through the crossword the day it comes out. Then if you isolate a few people give then the same crossword a day later, they breeze through it, implying that some how that the knowledge of the general population was shared with the isolated people. But it seems like this is a somewhat democratic processes, that the more people that learn something, the more people that will just pick it up.

So what sort of mass event could lock in on this one time period through the centuries as the date for the end of the world?

The next question is, if this event comes to pass, will this be a good thing or a bad thing? Some suppose it means war and death. Others believe evolution to a higher state. Somethink it will just be a dawning of a new age, with man moving on to another world (Mars?).

No way to tell, but I do think I will be amusedly watching various dramatic theories cross the net.

So far the only good visualizer I've found for iTunes under windows is WhiteCap, but it's good enough that it makes me wish music television stations would eschew the video in favor of graphics like this.

So far, my plans for the 20th. Going to Jai Thai for Pat's b-day. Pat is the bar tender there, so it should be awesome. And the music will be by provided by Beau and and his rapidly shaping up Fluorine crew. But I'm not sure I want to spend all evening there and still in search of stuff reachable via bus. Forking out $30-$40 for a taxi is one thing, but having to taxi around to events all evening will break the bank.

Anyway, what are your plans for the 20th?

Unlabeled inkjet photo paper?

I would like to do a light box type thing for a couple of my images, but all photo paper I hvae has the paper makers brand printed all over the back of the paper. This means when you shine light through the paper, you see "Kodak" or "Epson" written all over your image.

Anyone know of a paper with out the branding on the back?

Audio question. I would like to buy some music online. I have the choice of FLAC or MP3. I would like to go with FLAC, as it's a lossless format, but I don't know if iTunes or my iPod will handle it, nor do I know what will convert the FLAC file to a high quality mp3.

Second, I've decided I need a rock star life style. Unfortunately I have no musical talents or abilities. Please advise.

It's been a while since I've done this, so here's the running totals and averages.

I started this journal February 6th, 2001. That is 2,262 days.

In that time I have made 8,516 posts (including this one). That is a mere 3.76 per day.

I have made 12,707 comments, or 5.62 per day.

And I received 16,415 comments, or 7.26 per day.

I'm not sure if these stats make me feel more or less productive.

So, for me to achieve the rock-n-roll life style with no musical talent, it's been suggested I need to become Emo. Obviously this goes against all that is good and right in the universe. There for it must be mocked (just like Emo.) To this end, you are tasked with editing a picture of me to make me Emo. Here is one such image (use any image of me tyhat you want):

I'm the one on the left.
