My weekend is the result of 3 weeks of work and bad weather.
You see, I have not mowed my lawn in 3 weeks. I usually mow it on the weekends, and I mowed it three weeks ago. Then two weekends ago I was in Portland, so I was going to mow it in the evenings, but I was at work till midnight all week, and last weekend I was in Portland again. Then this week it rained everyday so the grass was wet, until last night.... The weather was perfect. I start up the mower and three feet in I destroyed the mower blade. You see the driveway has a wood seam in it, so act as an expansion joint. There are metal rebar posts on either side of the driveway to hold the wood in. On one side the post sticks up three inches of so. I forgot about it and hit it. The mower blade is all bent out of shape. So I need to replace the blade, but it's not that simple. I don't have any wrenches, and I don't have a tape measure to determine what size of wrench or blade I need. So... I need to scooter on down to Home Depot, get a tape measure, then ride back, get the measurements, ride down to Home Depot again and get the wrench and the blade. All while It's fucking raining again!
Anyway, That's today, anyway. I should get a sledge hammer and pound the metal stake in far enough that this never happens again, but I'm not sure how I would carry the sledge hammer on the scooter.
I went out in the rain today. And *gasp* I didn't melt!
I rode down to Home Depot and got a socket set and a tape measure. Then swung by Big Apple Bagels and got a half dozen bagels and some shmears. Then wandered over to G.I. Joes and got a lock for the scooter.
In the process I got up to 50mph and it back obvious I need to tighten the left mirror as by the time I got to Home Depot all I could see is my chest in it. I'll get that tightened and head back down to Home Depot tomorrow with the old blade and come back with a new one and a small sledge hammer.
So, with Emily moving out, I'm shopping the rescue shelters to find a dog. I want a young female that is a medium to large breed. And preferable a breed with a laid back personality. All they have, that are young, female, and medium to large are border collies and a doberman pincher. Border collies are very smart and tend to need a lot of training and attention and are not laid back. And I don't know anyone who has had a doberman pincher, but I've known a number of people who have been attacked by them, so I don't think I want one of those. The search continues.
Let's see which of you (Harry) Potter Heads could answer this New Times Crossword puzzle clue without looking it up...
2 Down, 6 letters: Miss Ravenclaw, who co-founded Hogwarts School.
I admit it, I don't remember her name. How about any of you. Remember, looking it up on Google or otherwise is cheating!
