We went on the Tubal Cain Trail, like I mentioned in my previous post, we lacked the time to finish the trail, but it was a good hike none-the-less. If we had made it futher there is the wreckage of a WWII bomber and an old mine you can explore if you are brave enough.
The view on the way up to the trail head.
At the trail head, Emily and Stella eager to get going.
While it's been pretty dry (the trees and moss seemed parched, there were several streams crossing the path.
Plus there were minor waterfalls galore.
There was not much traffic, two pairs of hikers, and then a family with on pack horse and one for riding. It's a good thing we spotted them early and got Stella contained as she has never seen a horse before and really wanted to investigate.
I was trying to be artsy with the dark trees in the foreground, the dark trees on the distant ridge and the one bright tree in the center of the frame. It's not nearly as dramatic as I was hoping for.
Rest break. (Do I have a hot girlfriend? Yes. Yes I do.)
The foliage was pretty dense, this was one of the more open areas.
All in all, it was a beautiful hike, even if we didn't make it to the end. It's a gradual uphill the whole way, but not so steep as to be difficult. Plus that means an easy downhill all the way back.
So... Who wants to go hiking with us? :-)
