To give you an example...
If you were in a situation where one man could live or 5 other people. Would you pull a lever and kill the man to save the 5 people?
9 out of 10 people say they would.
Now if instead of pulling the lever, you have to push the man in front of an on coming train, would you do it?
9 out of 10 people say no, even though the results would be the same.
This reluctance to directly kill another people is biologically coded in our system.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting and wanted to share.
If you want to listen to the show and discuss it, it the Friday the 13th on Radio Lab.
