It seems New York must think it'
s a nation unto it's self, and it is justified on engaging in espionage here in the U.S. and in other countries, to spy on people based on their political views.

That's right. The NYPD sent undercover officers well out of their jurisdiction to spy on people through out the U.S. and on people in Canada and Europe. All to spy on those opposed to the republican party and might vocalize their displeasure with the republican party at the GOP convention.

So, no only is the NYPD spying on people well out of their jurisdiction, but it was spying on them for not being "good" republicans.
