So, in the name of risking life and limb just for the hell of it, I'm pondering combining multiple technologies in a very unsafe and insane manner.
So, I'm sure you've all seen a Jacob's Ladder. The two metal rods where electricity arcs between them and climbs up the rods. This works through ionization and convection. When the electricity fist arcs, it ionizes the air making a path of less resistance. That ionized air is hot, and rises. This is why the arc climbs up the rods.
Now, if you take a plasma torch and compressed air to make a plasma stream, could you them combine this with a tesla coil and use the plasma stream to direct where the electricity jumps to?
Now could you combine the plasma gun and the tesla coil into a gun/wand (still connected to the power/air sources) and do some cool Ghostbuster type action?
Probably not, as the plasma stream would not have enough reach, and if it did, it would torch anything in it's path long before you let the tesla coil discharge.
Still, it's a fun idea to play with.
