Scottish Catholics decide that Hokey Pokey is an ancient song writen to mock the movement of catholic priests and that Protestant soccer fans will use the song to mock Catholic soccer fans. Politicans and religous groups get involved over this insidious song.
Finally someone does some research. The song was written by the author of Teddy Bears Picnic in 1943. He was in England and wrote it about how his fellow Canadians danced in a night club.
The further LOL is that the music was based on a a Canadian miners song called Cokey Cokey, about using cocaine.

Reminds me of the La Cucaracha, which I grew up hearing all the time on Looney Tunes, was actually a song sung in the Mexican Army about refusing you march if they didn't have their marijuana.
