Friday I decided to try something technically challenging and to a HDR panoramic image.
Normally for a panoramic image I take seven to fourteen pictures and stitch them together. But because I was doing an HDR image I needed to do 3 times the number of photos. each "panel" of the hdr would need a properly exposed picture, one under exposed 2 stops, and one over exposed 2 stops. Those would need to be aligned and combined into individual HDR images. Then the panels would need to be warped, aligned, and stitched. Most of this done with command line tools.
After a couple days work I got this done. 33 images combined into an HDR tiff image covering about 240 degrees of view. It finished right before I left for work. Unfortunately the image of just shy of 400Mb, too big to mail. So I thought I would just scp into my system at home and transfer it here to do the tone maping to an LDR jpeg, and post it, but my router seems to have lost it's config and it's letting me scp in.
Arg!!! So close to done, I can taste it!
