One of my big complaints about post 70's music is that with the start of MTV music started to be more about the look than the sound. And with the common use of tools to adjust the tone of singers voices, it just accelerated the trend toward a lack of vocal talent.

Once in a while I see something that returns some joy to my heart. While I'm not much of a musicals person, this bit from Britain's Got Talent is just amazing.

Watch as 47yo Susan Boyle gets on stage, is laughed at, prejudged, and is made a mockery of.... until she starts singing.

yeah, my girlfriend mad me watch that yesterday. I've never been much for Les Misérables, but I admit if she were singing that part throughout, I'd go.
The change in expression on Simon is what gets me- Like he just lost 25 years of dourness in an instant.
