My opinion is that video games tend to (but not always), have simple story lines and highly repetitive action.
I think for a good video game movie, you really need to do a prequel. Take Doom for eaxmple. The movie sucked. Lot's or monsters and shooting them up with little in the way of story. Why not a story about what lead to the portal opening and the monsters coming through, and finish with the monsters killing off all the people on the base. It leads nicely into the game, and would hopefully have a plot with some intrigue.
Speaking of movies based on video games... What game would you like to see made into a movie and who would you want to direct it? And, if you want, any other particulars, like who you would want starring in it, etc.
