With all the requests for GMail codes and all the people offering them, it's like a new form of commerce.

It would be interesting if LJ brought back codes, and a few more sites used codes, and a Code Exchange, much like a stock/currence exchange, could be set up.

You just sign up. It's free, no code needed. I suppose you could have one for each day of the week, if you wanted.
