Years ago, down in California, I had an account with First Interstate Bank. The account was set up with a a joined chcking and savings account. If one account was low, money from the other would siphon over and compensate. All was good. Wells Fargo purchased First Interstate and my account was moved. All was still good. Then yesterday I get a note from Wells Fargo.
Your Savings account was overdrawn by $3 so we closed it. Pay us the $3 now or we will sic out lawyers on you.
WTF?!?!? The money should have transferred from the checking to the savings to cover any overages. I was rather confused. This system has worked for years. So I call up Wells Fargo. It seems they upgraded their systems and this was a side effect. To fix this I need to go to the bank and reopen my savings account.
WTF?!?!? They fuck up, and I have to take time out of my day to go fix it for them? I think not.
If I have to go to the branch office, it will be to pay the $3 they are demanding and close my checking account and move on to some other bank.
I have sent Wells Fargo a letter stating this and I eagerly await their response.
